Liability waiver · version 2026-07-30

What you are agreeing to when you book

Every booking asks a parent or guardian to accept this waiver. This is the whole of it — the exact wording recorded against your booking as version 2026-07-30. Read it before you tick the box, not after. If any part of it is not acceptable to you, do not book.

  • Soccer carries real risk

Sprains, breaks, collisions and concussions happen in training. Nobody can coach that risk away.

  • You are agreeing for your athlete

You confirm you are the parent or legal guardian, or have their authority to agree on the athlete’s behalf.

  • Photos are separate

This waiver is not a photo release. That is its own checkbox, it defaults to no, and it is never bundled in here.

What this is

This is an agreement between you — the parent or legal guardian booking a session — and both the trainer who will run that session and SoccerTrainerHQ LLC (“SoccerTrainerHQ”), the California limited liability company that operates the platform the booking was made through. It applies to the athlete named on the booking, at the sessions, camps and training you book through this platform.

It is presented at checkout and you must accept it to book. Accepting it electronically has the same effect as signing it on paper.

This wording is version 2026-07-30

Your booking records which version you agreed to, so this document can be produced years later exactly as you read it. If the wording ever changes, the version changes with it and the old text is not edited. You are asked to agree again only when the wording actually changes.

Who is agreeing

By accepting this waiver you confirm that:

  • You are at least 18 years old.
  • You are the athlete’s parent or legal guardian, or you have that person’s authority to enrol the athlete and to agree to this on their behalf.
  • You are agreeing for yourself and for the athlete, and on behalf of your and the athlete’s heirs and family.
  • The information you gave at booking — the athlete’s name, birth year, medical notes and emergency contact — is accurate and current, and you will update it if it changes.
  • To the best of your knowledge the athlete is physically fit to take part in soccer training, and you have disclosed any condition a coach would need to know about.

The risks of soccer training

Soccer is a contact sport played at speed on grass and turf. Injury is a real possibility at every session, however carefully it is run.

Risks include, and are not limited to: sprains, strains and torn ligaments; broken bones; cuts, bruises and dental injury; collisions with other players, with equipment, or with goalposts; being struck by a ball; head injury and concussion; heat illness, dehydration and sun exposure; cold and wet conditions; aggravation of an existing injury or condition; and, though rare, catastrophic injury, permanent disability or death.

There are also risks that come from the setting rather than the sport: the condition of a field or its surface; weather; the conduct of other players, parents or members of the public at a public park; travel to and from the session; and the possibility that medical help is not immediately available.

You understand that no coach, and no equipment, eliminates these risks.

Assumption of risk

Knowing all of that, you voluntarily choose for the athlete to take part, and you accept those risks — including risks that turn out to be caused by the ordinary negligence of the trainer or of SoccerTrainerHQ, and risks that neither of them could reasonably have foreseen.

You also accept responsibility for the athlete’s conduct, for their equipment being suitable and in good condition, and for their supervision before and after the session unless the trainer has expressly agreed otherwise.

Release of claims

To the fullest extent permitted by law, you release and agree not to sue the trainer and SoccerTrainerHQ — including their owners, employees, contractors and volunteers — for any claim, demand, loss, injury, damage or expense arising out of the athlete’s participation in training booked through this platform, including claims based on ordinary negligence.

This release covers claims you may bring yourself and, to the extent the law allows a parent or guardian to do so, claims that could be brought on the athlete’s behalf. You also agree to indemnify the trainer and SoccerTrainerHQ against a claim brought by anyone else in connection with the athlete’s participation, other than one caused by that party’s own gross negligence or wilful misconduct.

You intend this release to cover claims you do not know about or suspect at the time you accept it, and you give up the protection of California Civil Code section 1542, which reads: “A general release does not extend to claims that the creditor or releasing party does not know or suspect to exist in his or her favor at the time of executing the release, and that if known by him or her would have materially affected his or her settlement with the debtor or released party.”

What this release does not reach

It does not cover gross negligence, recklessness, or intentional or criminal misconduct by anyone. It does not cover anything the law does not allow to be released. And it does not prevent you from reporting misconduct to the police, to a governing body, or to us.

Medical treatment

If the athlete is injured or becomes unwell at a session and you cannot be reached, you authorise the trainer to obtain emergency medical care for them, including calling emergency services and consenting to treatment a medical professional considers necessary. You agree to be responsible for the cost of that care.

Trainers are not medical professionals. Nothing here promises that a trainer holds a first aid or CPR qualification, or that medical help is available at any particular field. The trainer will use the emergency contact details on your booking, so keep them current.

If the athlete carries medication — an inhaler, an EpiPen — say so in the medical notes at booking, and make sure they have it with them. A trainer is not expected to administer medication.

What is expected at a session

  • The athlete follows the trainer’s instructions and plays within the rules and the spirit of the game.
  • Appropriate footwear and shin guards are worn, plus water and anything the trainer asks you to bring.
  • Anyone who is unwell, or who is recovering from a head injury and has not been cleared to return, stays home. Concussion is the one to be most careful about.
  • A trainer may end a session, or ask an athlete to stop, if they judge it unsafe to continue.

What this waiver does not do

Waivers are often used to smuggle in agreements that have nothing to do with safety. This one does not:

  • It is not a photo release. Permission to photograph or film your athlete is a separate checkbox, it defaults to no, and accepting this waiver does not grant it. See the privacy policy.
  • It does not change your refund rights. Cancellations and refunds are governed by the terms of service, and nothing here affects them.
  • It does not consent to marketing. That is its own checkbox too, and it also defaults to no.
  • It does not give up the athlete’s statutory rights, or any right that cannot be waived under California law.

How your agreement is recorded

When you accept this waiver at checkout, four things are stored:

  • waiver_signed_name — the name you typed.
  • waiver_accepted_at — the moment you accepted, on our server’s clock rather than your device’s.
  • waiver_ip — the IP address the acceptance came from.
  • waiver_version2026-07-30, which is what points at this exact page.

If you have a parent account and save a player, the waiver is recorded against that player instead of against each individual booking, so you are asked again only when the wording changes.

Because this is evidence of what was agreed, the record is kept even if the booking is cancelled or refunded — see how long we keep things.

General

This waiver is governed by California law. If a court decides any part of it cannot be enforced, that part is removed and the rest still applies — the intention is that the release operates as broadly as the law allows.

It applies to every session you book through SoccerTrainerHQ under the version recorded against that booking, and it continues to apply after the session has taken place.
